LAKESHORE BONE & JOINT INSTITUTE’S NEW BIONICARE BIO-1000 TREATMENT IS A REVOLUTIONARY NON-DRUG, NON-INVASIVE TREATMENT FOR MANAGING OSTEOARTHRITIS OF THE KNEE Saturday, January 22nd Clinic Inaugurates Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute as the Only Center in the Lake Region Offering the Revolutionary BioniCare® BIO-1000 Treatment Chesterton, Ind. Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute (LBJI) will host a BioniCare® clinic and seminar on Saturday, January 22, at 9:00 a.m. in its new state-of-the-art facility located at 601 Gateway Blvd. in the Coffee Creek Center in Chesterton, Ind. Open to the public while spaces are available, this clinic will inaugurate LBJI as an official center for BioniCare® treatments, as well as provide patients with the opportunity to learn about the BioniCare® BIO-1000 System--the phenomenal new non-drug, non-invasive treatment for osteoarthritis of the knee. Michael C. Leland, MD, board certified orthopedic surgeon, explained the profound impact he believes this new technology will have on those in the lake region who suffer from osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee. “Osteoarthritis affects more than 21 million people in the United States and tens of thousands of people in our region. It starts as minor pain and gradually increases until it drastically decreases the knee’s mobility. Treatment of osteoarthritis usually involves prescription and non-prescription drugs, and can end with the recommendation of total knee replacement. We believe the new BioniCare® System will offer a no-drug, no-surgery option for many of our patients afflicted with OA.” Free Clinic/Seminar Schedule Saturday, January 22, 2005 9:00 a.m. The seminar will kick off with an overview from LBJI’s Dr. Leland on the basic science of arthritis and cartilage metabolism, followed by a presentation from a BioniCare® representative on the BIO-1000 System’s development and clinical results from its use. 9:30 a.m. A 15-minute question and answer session begins. Coffee and cookies will be available. 9:45 a.m. Patients with prescriptions will have the opportunity to be measured for their own system, while individuals who have inquired about the system and scheduled “screening evaluations” will go to their exams with Lakeshore Bone & Joint doctors. Patients must understand that X-rays and MRI exams are not free of charge. 10:15 a.m. If time permits, inquiring individuals without scheduled screening evaluations will also be able to have exams. After the screenings, candidates for BioniCare® will be measured for their system. Contact Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute at 219-921-1444 to arrange a free screening exam, reserve a space for the seminar, or request a free brochure. BioniCare® BIO-1000 is the First Non-Drug, Non-Invasive Treatment For Managing Osteoarthritis (OA) of the Knee In just six hours a day, the BioniCare® Bio-1000 System relieves patients’ knee pain. The system, cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for marketing in the United States, consists of a soft Velcro® wrap that delivers a specific electrical signal to the knee. The lightweight, comfortable wrap can be worn under clothing during the day or at night while a patient sleeps. “This is really a great option for those patients whose symptoms aren’t relieved by traditional drug therapy and who aren’t able or willing to undergo surgery,” Dr. Leland explained. “We at Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute are really excited to be a part of this revolutionary treatment.” The BioniCare® Clinic/Seminar is the first in the upcoming series of 2005 Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute Free Clinics/Seminars. Others include: Osteoarthritis on March 12th, Sports Medicine on June 4th, Sports Symposium for Coaches and Trainers on July 23, Full Service Orthopedics on September 10th, and Spine Care on December 3rd.
